Dr. Spagnoletti completed medical school, residency, general internal medicine fellowship, and a Master of Science degree in medical education at the University of Pittsburgh and joined the Division of General Internal Medicine (DGIM) faculty in 2006. She currently serves as the Associate Division Chief for Education in DGIM. She also oversees 10 fellows in her role as Director of the Academic Clinician-Educators Scholars Fellowship in General Internal Medicine and over 35 post-graduate students in her role as Director of the Masters and Certificate Programs in Medical Education at the Institute for Clinical Research Education.  As a clinician educator, she works closely with internal medicine fellows, residents and medical students as a clinical preceptor and advisor. Passionate about medical education scholarship, she has mentored numerous faculty and trainees on medical education research projects in several areas including professional development, patient-doctor communication, patient satisfaction, and anti-racism in medical education, and has published over 50 peer-reviewed manuscripts, invited papers, book chapters and proceedings in the field of medical education.   Dr. Spagnoletti has been recognized with several awards for her scholarship, teaching, mentorship, and leadership both locally and nationally, including the Society for General Internal Medicine (SGIM) Scholarship in Medical Education Award and Mid-Career Education Mentorship Award, the Association of Chiefs and Leaders in General Internal Medicine Leadership Award, the UPSOM Sheldon Adler Innovation Award and William I. Cohen Award for Excellence in Clinical Skills Instruction Award, and the University of Pittsburgh Chancellor’s Distinguished Teaching Award.
